Atrad trading platform

There are three online stock trading platforms in Srilanka.

• Atrad
• DirectFN
• Intellect

In this article let’s have a look on Atrad stock trading platform and what are the keys and features of Atrad stock trading platform. If you are a beginner investor then this will more helpful for you.

• When you login to the Atrad platform, this is the initial interface of Atrad stock trading platform. Here you can see the market live details

• This market tabs shows whether the market is open or close. You can buy or sell shares only if the market is in open. Mostly market will be in open from 10.00 AM to 2.00 PM in Srilanka time( This time frame is in UTC +5.30)

• This column represents the Security of the company. Security means it’s the unique representation ID of the specific company. It will be unique for each and every company registered under Colombo stock exchange.

• This column represents the Name of the company. This is easily understandable by investors.

• In sector watch you can see the companies based on their business fields. By selecting the preferred field you can see, which companies registered in Colombo stock exchange under that sector.

• From portfolio you can watch the details of companies which you bought shares.

• To add a company to your watch list, all you have to do is click on the (+) icon and type the security or company name into the security box. And then press the add key to add the company to your watch list.

• To check the market depth, right click onto the specific company. Market depth means the bids and asks for the share price.

• Bids mean the price which buyers’ interest to buy the stocks. Asks mean the price which sellers want to sell the shares. Asks price and bid price can be auction through limit order.

By clicking on the specific company, you can see the tab to buy or sell the share. This tab has several parts, let’s have a look at important parts which useful for investors.

• The asset menu shows the type of asset. Usually its equity.
• The action menu shows that, what you are going to do with the share either buy or sell.
• Security ID represents that which company share you are going to buy or sell. You can cross check that to confirm you are in the right stock.
• In quantity menu you can choose the amount of shares you willing to buy or sell.it should be in a whole number.
• In order type you can select which order type you choosing to buy or sell that share. You can select Limit, Market, Stop, Stop limit order based on your preference. To learn about order types and their uses click here.
• Lastly price menu shows that, which price you are auction for buying or selling the share. If you prefer market order then you can’t change the price. The market trading price will be displayed automatically and you have to make the order on that price only. For limit orders you can adjust the prices and select the price you prefer.
• The rest parts are mostly useful for traders. If you are an investing kind of person then you are no need to concern about it.

• Next important feature to consider is portfolio. You can get it from the client area. Here you can see what are the stocks you have and the amount of stocks, the gains and losses and much more.

• In chart are you can see market movement .you can read charts in Atrad Platform once the market close. You can’t see in when market opens. After selecting the company name or security, you can get the chart by clicking draw. If the chart seems hard to do the technical analysis, then you can analyze the chart through investing.com.

• Apart from these the important notification mails were sent from CSE and your stockbroker will be delivered to here also. You can check that too.
